    Transfer Student Admissions

BMATS welcomes transfer students who are continuing their theological education or preparing for ministry through formal academic training.

Whether you are transferring from a college, university, or seminary, our admissions team works closely with you to evaluate prior coursework and help you plan a clear path forward.

Who Qualifies as a Transfer Student

You may apply as a transfer student if you have previously completed coursework at an accredited college, university, or theological institution and wish to apply those credits toward a degree or certificate at BMATS.

Many transfer students come to BMATS after:

    • Completing general education coursework elsewhere

    • Beginning theological studies at another institution

    • Returning to school after time in ministry or the workforce

    Transfer Credit Evaluation

Transfer credit is evaluated on an individual basis after admission. Coursework is reviewed to determine academic equivalency, relevance to the chosen program, and alignment with BMATS curriculum standards.

    In general:

    • Credits must be earned from an accredited institution

    • A minimum grade of C (or equivalent) is required

    • Coursework must align with the student’s selected degree program

    • The number of transferable credits varies by program and academic level.

    • Program-Specific Transfer Guidelines

    • Transfer policies vary by degree or certificate program.

    Undergraduate Programs

Transfer students entering undergraduate programs may apply eligible general education and religion coursework toward degree requirements, subject to program limits.

    Graduate Programs

Graduate-level transfer credit is considered for relevant coursework completed at accredited seminaries or graduate institutions, in accordance with program requirements.

An admissions advisor will help clarify how transferred credits apply to your specific academic plan.

    Required Materials for Transfer Students

In addition to the standard admissions application, transfer students must submit:

    • Official transcripts from all previously attended institutions

    • Any additional documentation requested during the evaluation process

Once transcripts are received, BMATS will complete a transfer credit assessment and provide guidance on next steps.

    Planning Your Next Step

Transferring to a new institution can feel uncertain, but our goal is to make the process clear and supportive. If you’re considering transferring to BMATS, we encourage you to speak with an admissions advisor early to discuss your background, goals, and program options.
